SPEAKER: Minister Michael Olawore
TITLE: It shall come to pass
TEXT: Deuteronomy 28:1
It shall come to pass - the thing that God has promised you! The bible says "..shall" , not "..might". Your ability to believe that determines your ability to receive it. If you don't believe it, you wouldn't receive it. You really have to be fully persuaded in your heart that It shall come to pass.
I have never ever believe in all my entire years that I am suppose to be broke. I have been broke but I never believe it. I also never believe that I was suppose to be sick; and when I found myself either sick or broke , I had a violent reaction towards them. I don't accept either of them at all.
That kind of ideology does not just start with scripture, it starts with how you raise your children - what you have told them to accept or reject. It is very important that you raise your children with a faith filled heart - to believe that they are the head and not the tail.
Many of you are struggling with twenty years of conditioning that you will never be anything or that you will never make it or becoming somebody significant.
Some of you are still living the negative words that were spoken over you. Because the word get down in you and you become pregnant with those words. Words are seeds and they germinate in the womb of your heart; and if you don't abort those seeds out of your heart, you will bring forth what they say about you
When I say - It shall come to pass, I am not talking about intellectual thing or head knowledge. I am not talking about just believing it; and I am not talking about just confessing the word, I am talking about a conviction in your heart, something deep down inside your spirit. It is an assurance , it is being persuaded, it is taking a stand that nobody can negotiate you out of .
The big question is how do I get to this level conviction? Unless you get to this level of conviction in your spirit. It becomes impossible to see the promise becoming a provision.
I want to talk to you today about how to bring to pass what God promised. I am talking about turning God's promise to provision.
Promise is not good enough if it remains as promise.
John 1:1-15. The scripture says: the word became flesh. The word was the promise; and flesh was the provision. Until the promise became provision, it was not possible to behold it's glory.
It is important to understand what takes place between promise and provision.
We would look into the life of Abram:
The Lord came to Abram with a promise in Gen 12:1-3 and Abram responded in Verse 4
After a period of time, God came back to Abram to reassure him of the promise. Gen 13:14-18
After a further passage of time - now Abraham was getting very frustrated. God visited Abraham in Gen 15:1-3. Abram allowed the passage of time to influence and change his perception and attitude to God's promise.
Notice that although Abram believed God when God called him out, he has now allowed the passage of time to take away his conviction.
PASSAGE OF TIMEMany of us are in a similar situation. You have allowed the passage of time to steal your conviction. Remember how you held on to that word before.
Remember how it was impossible for anybody to change your focus. You were very convinced that God spoke to you. You must realise that it was your prerogative to put time on the promise. God never told Abram when the promise will be fulfilled.
God is not bound by time. God is not defined by time. Many time we get frustrated because we want God to bring to pass He's promise in our own ways and at our own timing. If you will allow God to do what He has promised without putting time limit on God, you will see the fulfilment of He's will in your life.
Important lessons to learn about time
•God is bigger that time
•The creation cannot be bigger than creator - God created time. God is not limited by time. Before time , God is God, while time comes into existence , God is still God, after time expires God will still be God.
•God make all things beautiful in it's time
•Don't allow passage of time to put pressure on you
•Don't try to help God - God is able to fulfil His word
•Never allow time to determine your attitude to God's promises (you and time are creation of God, don't empower time over yourself)
•Irrespective of time, hold on to God
The scriptures below tell us how God feel about His word
"Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away"
- Matt 24:35 -NKJV
"Therefore say to them, 'Thus says the Lord GOD: "None of My words will be postponed any more, but the word which I speak will be done," says the Lord GOD.'"
- Ezek 12:28
PERCEPTIONAlso, came with the passage of time is change of perception. As a result of the passage of time, Abram saw himself childless.
The scripture says as he thinks in his heart so is he. You are a product of your perception.
How have you perceived God's promise to you lately? What do you see even when all seem hopeless?
WHAT DO YOU SEE ABOUT...
•Your Children
•Your wife
•Your husband
•Your finances
•Your business
•Your ministry
•Your health
When you focus your energy on seeing in the natural, you miss an opportunity to experience the move of God over your situation.
Your seeing must line up with the word of God. Then God releases the energy to bring the word to pass
The problem is that a lot of us are too natural that we only see things from natural perspective. We respond or react the way the rest of the world does. This is the time to lift up our eyes.
Abraham allowed the passage of time to influence how he saw God's promises and his perception influenced his attitude to God.
ATTITUDESAbraham and Sarah Lost Hope. Gen 17:15-18; Gen 18:11-13
We saw clearly from the above passages that Abraham and Sarah lost hope when they lost their conviction.
Maybe you are here today and you have lost hope, Maybe you have lost your grip on God's promise. Maybe you have given up as a result of passage of time, I have Got a good news for you today. Lets see what God did for Abraham in order to restore his conviction.
Gen 15:4-5. Verse 5 Then He brought him outside and said, "Look now toward heaven, and count the stars if you are able to number them." And He said to him, "So shall your descendants be - NKJV
God brought him outside. Note that he was inside before; and inside is a place of
•Limitation
•Where you cannot see far
•Where all you see is contrary things - all negative
•Where you cannot reach far
God is calling you out, come out of :
•Failure
•Limitation
•Nightmare
•Occultism
•Fear
•Debt
•Immorality
•Adultery
•Homosexuality
•Lesbianism
•Natural realities
•Weaknesses
Until you come out you cannot see far. For you to see what God is trying to show you, you have to come out of natural realm, realm of flesh into spirit realm , realm of God. God called him out of doubt into faith. God called him out of fear into boldness.
We cannot deal with issues from natural perspective. That is why the scripture says:
2 Cor 10:4-6 - "For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled."
If the weapons are not carnal, that suggests that the warfare are also not carnal. This is time to raise up and gain a clear understanding of our weapons and our warfare.
Gen 15:5-6 - "'Look now toward heaven, and count the stars if you are able to number them.' And He said to him, "So shall your descendants be." And he believed in the LORD, and He accounted it to him for righteousness." - NKJV
WHEN HE CAME OUTSIDE , GOD SHOWED HIM WHAT WAS POSSIBLE. From that experience the following happened:
•Contrary to hope, in hope believed.
•Not being weak in faith.
•He did not waver at God's promise.
•He was strengthened in faith.
•He was given glory to God.
THE FULFILMENTGen 21:1-3. Verse 1 - "And the LORD visited Sarah as He had said, and the LORD did for Sarah as He had spoken. For Sarah conceived and bore Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him." -NKJV
This is the time to come out and look towards heaven!
